UPDATE: Aurizon has withdrawn its application to the Northern Australia Infrastructure Fund (NAIF), which it planned to use to build a rail line that would open up the Galilee Basin to coal miners like Adani.

Aurizon’s February 2018 statement reaffirmed the company’s in principle support for Galilee coal projects, but stated that no discussions with Galilee coal proponents (including Adani) had progressed far enough to support the application.

We will keep an eye out for any developments between the two companies, but for the moment the risk of Aurizon helping Adani unlock the Galilee has subsided.
